“CR Plus” Thanks You!
College of the Redwoods’ new program, CR Plus, began offering reasonably priced and free classes designed for the over-50 population in August at the Eureka Downtown site on 6th & K, and will now offer classes in two brand new sites – in Arcata, across from Arcata High on 16th Street, and McKinleyville in the Safeway shopping center on Central Ave.
We had excellent turnouts for our first offerings and thank all of you for participating in the walks, classes, and events. Your continued support helps keep CR Plus on the path to success!
This fall’s offerings include Town & Trail local fitness walks on Wednesday mornings, continuing thru mid-November, and will begin an 8-week “hands-on” course Staying Connected “Beginning Computer Skills” every Thursday from October 22nd until December 17th in the Downtown Eureka computer lab at 6th and K streets, and the McKinleyville site in the Safeway shopping center on Central Ave.
The spring line up will include “Making Photographs I,” beginning digital photography, “Making Photographs II,” the next level, and “Using Photoshop as a Darkroom,” all taught by local professional photographer, Gary Todoroff. We are also working on another series of Staying Connected Internet classes covering a variety of subjects from computer and internet security to how social network sites, such as Facebook work to help us in our quest for information and social connection. Dates and locations for these and other classes we are working on will be announced very soon.
Christine Campbell, CR Plus program coordinator, wants to know what you want CR Plus to offer. This is YOUR program so please give us your valuable input as to subjects, days, and the times that work best for you. You can find more information about the program at http://redwoods.edu/crplus, or email Christine at CRPlus@redwoods.edu.
Thank you for your support of CR Plus!
