CR Plus - Ageless Learning – Spring 2010 Classes

College of the Redwoods began offering classes designed for our over 50’s community last August with a brand new program, CR Plus. Our first offerings included free weekly fitness walks and “hands-on” internet classes at CR’s Eureka Downtown site. In October, we added low-fee beginning computer skills classes in both the Eureka site, and the new CR McKinleyville Instructional site.
Classes are affordable, some are free and are offered year ‘round in two convenient locations. There are no grades or tests, and no annual membership fees. Students range in ages from 50 to 90 - people wanting to learn, have fun, and meet new people - all in a relaxed atmosphere. Ageless learning for the fun of it!
New CR Plus classes for spring include weekly Town & Trail Fitness Walks, Staying Connected Beginning Computer Skills, Making Photographs I & II, Photoshop as a Darkroom, Joy of Not Working, Magic Mosaic Memories, Gardening for Wildlife, Over 50’s Pilates Mat, Ancestors Online, Introduction to Drawing, and Local History.

The computer classes are very popular and fill up quickly so we plan to keep these as “core” classes – offering them each semester. We are also working to expand the Staying Connected classes with Beginning Computer Skills II, and Internet classes with subjects ranging from computer/ internet security, safe online shopping and personal business, setting up accounts on social networking sites like Facebook, photosharing and many more computer-related subjects to help us in our quest for information and social connection.
