025005   GARDENING FOR WILDLIFE

Take your garden to the next level.  Learn how to plant lovely flowers and trees

to attract beautiful and beneficial wildlife.  (Emphasis is on birds.)  Take a "tour"

(via slides) of the instructor's garden to see a real yard at work.  Hand-outs will

be available. 

 

025187   COMMUNITY SPANISH FOR BEGINNERS

                        Instructor: K. Bierbaum-Cota         Fee: $100

This is a non-grammar based class for people with little or no prior knowledge of

Spanish who want to be able to communicate with Spanish speaking individuals

they meet at home or abroad.  The emphasis will be on social topics.  The fee

includes the textbook and CDs.

Join us two days a week for 50 minutes during your lunch break to relax and

stretch for a strong, healthy mind and body.  This six-week class will be held at

our downtown site, within walking distance of many city and county offices.

Through lively lectures, slide shows, and historical artifacts, Ray Hillman,

well-known historian, author and tour guide, will bring the history of our region

alive.  Topics will include native cultures and exploration by EuroAmericans,

gold rush settlements, the redwood lumber industry, and our local architectural

heritage.

Learn how to search for ancestors and family history data in this beginners course

Build a framework for your family history, access online records, databases and

other genealogical resources.

our new McKinleyville site.

Join us two days a week for a mid-day break to relax and stretch for a strong,

healthy mind and body.  This five-week class will be held at our main campus

on Tompkins Hill Road.   

 

025057   MAGIC MOSAIC MEMORIES

                        Location:  McKinleyville Instructional Site

Do you have some sentimental old jewelry or chotchkies that you do not know

what to do with?  Why not use them in a colorful mosaic tile for your home,

garden or on a picture frame for that special photo?  It is kind of like quilting

but for people with short attention spans!  You will learn the traditional grout

method and the quickie, dyed mastic method onto 4 x 4 ceramic tiles, light

switch plates and picture frames.  The instructor will provide all materials,

including some old jewelry, Italian glass, millefiori, copper tape and colored

mastic - but you should bring your memorabilia, too.  Wear old clothes and

shoes.  You will love what you take home from this class - and it is great for

personalized holiday gifts, too.

you are not and learn to go with your strengths.  With the Myers-Briggs Type

Indicator, the most popular and useful personality tool in the world, you will be

able to make new decisions and understand the others you love, work and

interact with every day.  Class is based on Renee Baron's book "What Type

Am I?  Discover Who You Really Are."

Building on the skills learned in Internet Genealogy I, this course provides more

advanced methods for searching for your ancestors online.
