Head Coach Maggie White

Maggie (Vallee) White is hoping for continued success in the upcoming season. In 2006, Redwoods earned a bid for the California State Championships (Final 8) for the first time in the program's history.  White started the softball program from scratch in 1997.  Since then, they have won four out of ten conference championships. In 1997, 2001 & 2006 White was named the Golden Valley Conference “Coach of the Year”.

Born and raised in Arcata, White has lived her entire life in Humboldt County.  She was a 1988 graduate from Arcata High School where she was a stand-out athlete in volleyball, basketball, and softball.   In 2004, White was inducted to the Arcata High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

White followed her high school softball coach, Frank Cheek for the inaugural season of softball at Humboldt State University, where she was a four year athlete playing third base.  In three of those seasons she achieved honorable mention all-NCAC honors.  She was the team captain in 1992.

After graduation, White returned to the HSU Softball program as a graduate teaching assistant and served as the first assistant for Cheek for two years.  In her first year as an assistant, the Lumberjacks earned third place in the NCAA Division II championships. In 1997 White earned her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and was awarded a full-time position at the College of the Redwoods as an instructor and head softball coach.

Coach White lives in Fieldbrook with her husband, Jason, and their three children: Hayden, Rachel, and Jasmine.
